Episode 2-New York City, Here We Come

Atalya SlaterThe girls arrive in their New York City loft, which has a “No Smoking” sign that leads to Fatima, Kimberly, and Amis’ to smoke outside. Mr. and Miss Jay pick the girls up to take them on a city tour with the last stop being in a runway show. Tension brews between Marvita and Fatima as Fatima unintentionally hits Marvita with her hand. When they are taken to Elite Model Management they meet Paulina Porizkova and Neal Hamil, the first of whom gives the girls a brutal and harsh rundown. The girls have a photo shoot where the theme is having one homeless woman surrounded by high fashion models. Mose of the girls receive positive feedback at the judging of their photos but Kimberly’s dead expression along with Amis’ over-enthusiasm get criticized. After this point in the episode Kimberly confesses to Fatima that fashion is not her interest.

As I said before, Paulina is replacing Twiggy but this is the first time that the contestants know. Anyways, Kimberly is called up but when she states her lack of interest in the fashion world she gets a mouthful from Tyra who demands to know why she came to the contest and why she auditioned. She also tells her that there were 6 girls left crying who would have done anything to be there but didn’t get the chance because Kimberly was chosen. Kimberly then quits the competition, which makes her the third person in ANTM history to willingly leave the show.

Despite this occurrence, Tyra tells the girls that there will still be an elimination. Atalya is sent home for lacking high fashion appeal.
